（上）英语语法：零碎时间搞定考研长难句，英语长难句

　　拆分点参考：标点符号；从属连词

　　It is the playgoers,// the RSC contends,// who bring in much of the town's revenue// because they spend the night (some of them four or five nights) pouring cash into the hotels and restaurants.

　　（1）这是一个复合句。其中the RSC contends为插入结构，应该为主句，故此句的正常语序是 The RSC contends it is the playgoers who bring in much of the town's revenue.

　　（2）it is the playgoers who bring in much of the town's revenue 强调结构，强调了主语playgoers.

　　

　　（3） because 部分为原因状语从句，说明前面RSC认为it is the playgoers who bring in much of the town's revenue的原因。原因状从中括号里面的内容为补充说明的部分。

　　词的处理：

　　contend： 竞争；奋争；主张；声明

　　playgoer：爱看戏的人，戏迷

　　bring in： 引进；带来；生产

　　revenue： 收入，税收

　　（1）插入语的处理：插入语在翻译时既放原处，也可以将其提到其主句之外翻译，此处建议将插入语the RSC contends 提到句首翻译。

　　

　　（2）原因状语从句的处理：原因状从既可以放主句前，译为“因为......所以......”，也可以放在主句之后，此处前后置皆可。
