Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Zhuhai)
南方海洋科学与工程广东省实验室（珠海）（以下简称南方海洋实验室）由广东省人民政府授牌，珠海市人民政府举办，中山大学牵头建设和管理，实行理事会领导下的实验室主任负责制。陈大可院士担任实验室主任，苏纪兰院士担任学术委员会主任。已与包括香港、澳门、广东等地高校在内的41家高等院校、研究机构、业务部门及相关企业等签订了合作共建协议。南方海洋实验室围绕海洋环境与资源、海洋工程与技术、海洋人文与考古三大研究领域，以“崇尚首创，力争最优”为标准，已布局建设十八个创新团队，并大力推进“国际一流，国内领先”的八大公共平台建设。
Accredited by the People's Government of Guangdong Province, and sponsored by the Zhuhai Municipal Government, Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Zhuhai) (hereinafter referred to as SML) was constructed and managed by Sun Yat-sen University, adopting director responsibility system under the leadership of the council. Academician Chen Dake was appointed as the Director of the laboratory, and Academician Su Jilan was appointed as the Director of its academic committee. The laboratory has signed cooperation agreements with 41 collaborative partnerships, including universities, research institutions, government departments and related enterprises in Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong. Committed to “to be the first or the best”, the SML has launched 18 innovative teams in three major fields of marine environment and resources, ocean engineering and technology, and marine humanities and archaeology, in addition to which, the laboratory has also accelerated the further establishment of the eight world-class public platforms.

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is one of the oldest universities and the first government-funded institution in Hong Kong to provide engineering education. After more than 80 years of development, with world-class research and education, PolyU is determined to become a top university in the world. In the QS World University Rankings 2022, PolyU was ranked to the 66th in the world. Engineering is one of the founding disciplines of PolyU building on a tradition of engineering excellence for over 80 years. Over the decades, generations of talented young engineers have been nurtured by the Faculty of Engineering; their vision and leadership have contributed significantly to the development of our society in Hong Kong and worldwide.
为贯彻落实《粤港澳大湾区发展规划纲要》，推进粤港澳高等教育和科研的深度合作，南方海洋实验室和港理工工程学院拟开展博士生联合培养计划。该项目实行双导师制度，完成培养方案规定的学习要求并符合毕业和学位授予条件的学生，最终获得港理工博士学位。
In order to implement the Outline of Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and promote the in-depth cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in higher education and scientific research, SML and PolyU intend to launch a Joint PhD Programme (hereinafter referred to as the Programme). The PhD students enrolled in this Programme will be supervised under dual-advisor guidance, and these who accomplished the Programme requirements shall be awarded the PhD degree of the PolyU.

学生在双方单位的学习科研时间各占一半，具体学制安排详见港理工官网。
Students shall be required to spend half of their time at PolyU and half at SML. View website of Study@PolyU for more details of the intended program duration.

四、费用及奖助学金
Fees and Assistantship
1.学生须按照港理工相关规定向其缴纳含学费在内的相关费用；
2.在香港学习期间，联培博士生按港理工博士生标准获得奖学金。在南方海洋实验室学习期间，导师将按照南方海洋实验室相关标准为学生发放津贴。
1. Students are required to pay tuition and other related fees to the PolyU.
2. During the study in Hong Kong, students will obtain scholarship in accordance with the standard for postgraduate student of the PolyU. During the study in SML, the assistantship will be granted in accordance with the relevant standard of the SML.
五、申请要求
Application Requirements
1.学历要求：硕士毕业生（应届毕业生需在入学前取得相应学位）及成绩优异并具有较强科研能力的本科毕业生；
2.英语水平需满足下列条件之一：
（1）雅思总成绩6.5分及以上；
（2）托福网考80分/纸考550分以上；
（3）本硕阶段若就读英文授课院校，可提供英文授课证明，无需提供考试成绩。
备注：托福及雅思考试之成绩于考试日起两年内有效。

1. Education background: A Master’s degree or academic background recognized as equivalent by UM; or a Bachelor’s degree or academic background recognized as equivalent by UM, with outstanding performance and have demonstrated strong research ability.
2. English: The requirements for those who do not have a degree for which English was the language of instruction at a recognised university are:
(1) An overall score of at least 6.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); OR
(2) A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 80 or above for the Internet-based test or 550 or above for the paper-based test.
(3) Applicants who received their Bachelor’s/Master’s degree from a university where the medium of instruction was English are required to provide a proof of English as the medium of instruction.
Note: TOEFL and IELTS scores are considered valid for two years after the date of the test.

Application Process
1.申请者填写《2022/2023学年SML-PolyU博士联培项目学生报名信息表》（附件2），提交至南方海洋实验室联系人邮箱进行预报名；同时请登录港理工申请页面进行网上申请，网上申请流程请见（Research Postgraduate - Important Notes to Applicants）；
2.报名截止时间为2022年3月31日；
1. Applicants should submit the SML-PolyU Joint PhD Programme Application Form (2022/2023) to contact email of SML for pre-application. Meanwhile, applicants should apply online through PolyU website. Check Research Postgraduate - Important Notes to Applicants for more details.
2. The deadline for application is March 31th, 2022.

1.申请者提供的学历、学位、成绩、语言等信息务必保证其真实性，如发现作假行为，后果自负；
