　　Today's video I have some very, very big news: the TOEFL IBT is changing in July.

　　There are some really big changes, so let's get right to it.

　　Here's what you gotta know. In July of this year, the TOEFL IBT will be shorter, and you'll be able to take the entire test in less than two hours.

　　There's going to be just two reading passages on this shorter test.

　　Let's kind of go through them one at a time.

　　First of all, let's talk about the shorter test.

　　Now currently, the test takes about three hours to complete, and with a 10-minute break in the middle.

　　On the new version of the TOEFL IBT starting in July, the test will be about two hours long.

　　Well, currently you get three or four reading passages, which means you get 30 or 40 questions; and sometimes you get unscored questions in the reading section, an experimental questions.

　　Well, on the new version of the TOEFL IBT, you'll get three lectures, two conversations, and no unscored questions.

　　How about the speaking section of the test?

　　Well, no changes. Nothing, it's the same.

　　Four questions, which take about 16 minutes to complete, and you'll still be scored by both a human and the AI, so there are no changes there.

　　The writing section has what I think are like the biggest changes.

　　Now you might be wondering what's up with this discussion board question. What's it going to look like?

　　Well, I have an idea here.

　　This is probably what it's going to look like.

　　Now, you might recognize this from the TOEFL Essentials test, which has used this question for a couple years.

　　Well, the discussion board question is going to come over from the TOEFL Essentials test into the TOEFL IBT test, and it's designed in a pretty standard way.

　　You start by getting these instructions, which say that the professor is teaching a class on some subject, and then you get to read a question that he asks the class.

　　After that, you read responses to that question from two students, and finally, your job as a test taker is to write your own response to that question.
