UNNC leads rankings of Sino-foreign universities

According to the 2022 Chinese university rankings released by cuaa.net on 25 January, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) ranked first among Sino-foreign universities.

Since 2003, cuaa.net has been releasing authoritative rankings of Chinese universities for 20 consecutive years. The rankings have been widely recognised and spread by a number of mainstream media outlets including People’s Daily, CCTV, Guangming Daily, and have served as important references for education policymaking, companies’ employment decisions, and education investments, as well as playing a vital role in students and parents’ university choices.

Cuaa.net’s 2022 China University Ranking Evaluation Index System consists of 12 indicators covering a comprehensive range such as outstanding alumni, teaching quality, high-level talents, advantageous disciplines, scientific research achievements, social reputation, and international influence.

As the first Sino-foreign university, UNNC has been a sample of international higher education with joint efforts of both the Chinese and British governments. Having developed for 17 years, the university has gained substantial reputation around the nation and received commendation from government of multiple levels, parents, and enterprises with its high-quality teaching, innovative education style, and the excellent employability of its graduates.

The education quality of UNNC is credited and spoken highly of by the international authoritative Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education. The Nottingham University Business School China is accredited by EQUIS and ten undergraduate courses of the Faculty of Science and Engineering have received international accreditation.

In terms of discipline construction, Engineering and Social Sciences (General) of UNNC rank internationally in the ESI’s world top 0.5% and 1% respectively. In the 2021 Domestic Subject (Discipline) Ranking, UNNC has three areas ranking historically high among Sino-foreign universities, including Business Administration (ranking 11th), Management (ranking 26th), and Economics (ranking 44th).

Combining the advantageous resources of University of Nottingham with the local development needs, UNNC has created a unique future-oriented first-class international teaching mode. Based on the high-quality British education system, UNNC integrates Chinese and International quality courses, offers deliberately designed extracurricular experience, provides its students with knowledge that meets future needs, and cultivates students' global mindset and cross-cultural communication skills.

Therefore, the graduates of UNNC have distinctive advantages and are popular in the job market. According to the data of 2020, 31% of the students pursuing further studies were admitted to the world’s top ten universities (QS World University Rankings) such as Cambridge, Stanford, and Oxford, while over 80% of graduates seeking for employment directly headed to Fortune 500, listed companies, and renowned enterprises domestically or internationally such as Huawei, ByteDance, L’Oreal, EY and Nelson.

In addition, UNNC also sticks to the principle of introducing talent globally, aiming to assist China's sustainable and high-quality development. Approximately 70% of the academic staff are international staff. Over the past few years, the university has also introduced world class research resources and talent of related fields. The establishment of Nottingham Ningbo China Beacons of Excellence Research and Innovation Institute is a good example of the university serving and contributing to the development and improvement in its city and region.
