Some people think watching television every day is bad for children. Others think it is good for the development of children as they grow up. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
范文解析
People have different views on whether watching television every day benefits the development of children. I believe that, even though TV can help educate children, it is overall a harmful influence.
On one hand, it can be argued that children are able to learn many different things from television. For example, there are plenty of nature and historical documentaries that teach viewers about the world and our society. Additionally, it can be boring for children to learn through only lectures or textbooks. Watching TV provides some fresh variety, helping to maintain their interest in learning. Finally, TV helps give children insight into things that are harder to envision or imagine. For example, a documentary depicting a major war or battle will often have actors and special effects that help give children a better idea of the past event.
However, for the most part, children dislike watching educational documentaries, preferring instead to watch cartoons. These shows are not particularly educational, as their primary purpose is to just entertain viewers. Beyond having limited educational value, watching television can be bad for children's health. Prolonged exposure to the television screen causes eye strain and even obesity, as it replaces other more physical activities. At the same time, watching a lot of TV can result in social isolation and fewer face-to-face interactions. A better alternative for leisure is for children to do outdoor activities, such as playing with other children outside. This would be better for both their physical and social development.
In conclusion, I believe that children should not spend too much time watching television, as it's usually not very educational and can even be harmful to their development.
