ABSTRACT
Since the first TV play "A Vegetable Cake" broadcasted in 1958, TV plays have gone through half a century in China. In this course, TV plays have gone deep into people's life, become an indispensable part of entertainment mode in people?s daily life. Under the circumstance of a flourishing development of the art category, TV plays, and the hit of TV series like " Brave the Journey to Northeast", "Go West", " But the World is a World of Past". In the industry, a new type of TV plays which called “a period of historical drama ”has emerged.
"Historical drama" as a new material of TV plays is a grand narrative under the historical background, concerning both history and individual. This kind of TV series has been produced continually, condensed into an inevitable trend in the creation of TV plays. The cultural connotation, aesthetic implication and unique narrative features that are embodied in the historical drama which is produced in Chinese mainland are worthy of our attention. The current classification of TV play often only relies on the synopsis, or an investigation and analysis from the shallow level of the story, which will bring some obstacles to the typological study of TV plays.
The typological study of TV play should be considered and analyzed from ideological implication, cultural connotation, artistic skills, aesthetic style and other aspects. Therefore, it is in this reason, as an important type, the analysis of “a period of historical drama” has an important significance. An important subject that put forward in this paper is the feasibility of partition and research on a period of historical drama as a type of TV plays.
In this paper, the art characteristics of “a period of historical drama” are deep analyzed, in order to find the unique law of art under the complex art phenomena. This paper mainly elaborates the art characteristics of “historical drama” from cultural background, aesthetic characteristics
