BA (Hons) Animation

BA (Hons) Animation is a practice-led course, where you will start by learning the fundamental skills and principles of animation in an intensive and collaborative setting. After your first year, choose one of four specialist pathways that reflect industry specialisms: Animation Arts, 3D Computer Animation, Visual Effects (VFX) and Games Arts.

Selection criteria

The portfolio, along with the details on your UCAS application (including the academic reference and your personal statement) will be assessed against the following criteria:

Evidence of ideas generation: quality of ideas and expression of conceptual thinking

Technical skills and experimentation with visual creativity, demonstrated in your own creative work

Materials and media exploration and experimentation: experimentation and testing of materials in realisation of concept

An understanding of the need for a critical and analytical approach (through research and practice) to this area of study

How we assess your application

Your application form is reviewed when you apply to the University. If you have achieved or expect to achieve the standard entry requirements we will invite you to submit a full portfolio. We make our offers based on the strength of the whole application, and therefore don’t routinely invite applicants to interview.

Portfolio advice

Your portfolio of work is the most important part of your application, and you must clearly evidence development work as well as work from completed projects.

Please provide us with no more than 10 examples of your current work. Within your work sample, please include no more than five minutes of durational work (moving image or sound) along with a contextual statement that explains your contribution to the finished product. It is important that the course admissions tutors are clear about your role within the production of the durational work.

Important Note: You are strongly advised not to delay the upload by trying to create new work; your main aim should be to demonstrate the creativity within your current portfolio.

课程描述

在快速变换的媒体大环境下，新科技改变了动画的创作、试验和理解。它是一门广泛的随处可见的科学。 动画具有创造性、开拓性和娱乐性。

动画专业本科的学生将成为多才多艺和有创造力的学生，他们将理解传统技巧如何支持新技术科技以及在哪里开发和如何应用的技能。他们也将学习如何协商不同的工作、合作和想法测试。

课程结构

申请要求

1. 入学时年满18周岁

2. 高中毕业生完成伦敦艺术大学预科课程

3. 雅思6.0分，单项分数不低于5.5

作品集建议

将作品分类整理并标注说明，设计作品应包含创作灵感来源，草稿图，设计调研过程，效果图以及成品的照片（如有提供）。尽可能的突出作品与专业相关的创新性，以及未来的发展方向。

BA (Hons) Animation students from London College of Communication created animations for the Child Poverty Action Group showing how children can experience poverty.

Child Poverty Action Group works on behalf of the nearly one in three children in the UK growing up in poverty. They wanted to use animations to show people what child poverty in this country means, and therefore why their work to tackle it is so important. Animations would be posted on social media to encourage donations.

Second year students from BA (Hons) Animation created ten animations. They based their films on quotes from children living in poverty and were able to illustrate complex issues in a clear, compelling and inspirational way.
